Summer 2022!
For our first blog post we felt it would be apt to start off with the busiest season – summer!
London Strings’ summer was massively busy with numerous weddings and parties! We did find some time to record Jai Ho, one of the most famous Bollywood songs, for violin and cello duo. As well as this, one of our musicians was on TV for Britain’s Got Talent, which was pretty exciting.
We got this lovely email from one of our clients after playing the Jurassic Park theme song for his now-wife’s bridal entrance. The bride booked us as a surprise for him!
I just wanted to email and say thank you. So, so, much – thank you! It was such a phenomenal surprise and, honestly, probably one of my fondest memories of the day. It was a complete surprise – I had no idea whatsoever!
You made a special moment even more memorable.
I can’t say enough kind words about you (and neither could our guests!) Everyone thought you were fantastic.
How sweet is that! We love moments like this, it is one of the highlights of our work.
Another memorable moment from our summer bookings was a performance in casual dress for First Sentier, held in London Liverpool St and broadcasted to the rest of their company in Sydney, Singapore and Hong Kong. We had to start playing at 7am! We chose Wake Me Up by Avicii as the first piece of music 🙂
More weddings in summer took us to Gosfield Hall, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Wadhurst Castle, for a Jewish/British wedding, beautiful Danesfield House, the Honourable Artillery Company, Greenwich’s Royal Observatory and Kew Gardens, amongst many others. Our quartet loved the decor at Hotel Cafe Royal – absolutely stunning! Here’s a beautiful review from our clients Jeremy and Darren from their wedding –
We booked London Strings to play our wedding this summer and they absolutely knocked it out of the park. I cannot stress enough the quality of performances we got throughout the day.
They are all incredibly talented professional musicians in their own right and it really shows when they come together like they did for us. Beautiful tone, an emotional textured performance, and such a lovely varied repertoire. They even accommodated all of our personal requests, even for pieces they had never seen before!
We had so many of our guests complimenting them throughout, they really made the day something special. So our massive thanks to the whole quartet for just such a stunning performance. We really cannot recommend you highly enough!

During the heatwave we were at Shuttleworth House. As long as we’re under cover and out of the direct sunlight it’s all good for us to perform outside!
We’ve played for a few Asian weddings this summer too – our duo and solo violinists have quite a few Bollywood songs under our fingers! I think our favourite Bollywood-themed venue was the Bombay Brasserie in Gloucester Road. The greenhouse there is beautiful, and after our performance we enjoyed some of the delicious food that was on offer!
We played at the Fitzrovia Chapel at least thrice this summer. It’s a stunningly decorated venue in the heart of London, and always a pleasure to perform there, also due to the resonant acoustics. It can fit a string quartet but is ideally suited to a violin and cello duo. We also performed here as an electric trio – electric violin, cello and keyboard!
Some days our musicians are extremely busy – one weekend we had 7 gigs, which included a sold-out candlelight concert featuring Amy Winehouse music performed by our string quartet!
